Features and Benefits
• Excellent Flame Retardant Effect and Low Additional Amount
• Non-Halogenated: Environmentally friendly, with no harmful halogenated byproducts which pollutes the environment and destroys the ozone layer
• High Thermal Stability: Withstands high temperatures without degrading during machining and using
• Never change the color of plastic products
• Versatile Applications: Used in coatings, lubricants, electroplating, and so on.
• Non-Toxic: Safe for use in consumer products, like cosmetics
• Enhance Mechanical Strength: Improves durability in materials like polymer concrete
• Cost-Effective: Multifunctional, reducing the need for multiple additives
Applications
Melamine Cyanurate (MCA) is widely used as a flame retardant. When heated, MCA forms a layer of carbon foam to minimize the contact between the polymer and oxygen, thus slowing down or stopping burning and reducing the toxic fumes produced by the burning. On the other hand, it has a high nitrogen content, and water steam and nitrogen gas will be produced at high temperature, which can reduce the concentration of combustible gas and improve the flame retardant performance.
MCA can be used as a lubricant, and its unique laminar crystal structure provides excellent lubricity, reducing friction and wear in mechanical systems. It’s more cost-effective than traditional molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It is commonly used for high-performance greases and lubricants in automotive and industrial applications.
As a matting agent, MCA is used in coatings to reduce gloss and give a matte effect. It has good adhesion with resin and better matting performance than titanium dioxide and silica.
Melamine cyanurate is used as a plastic additive in electroplating applications. It improves the surface properties of plastics and increases their adhesion to metal layers during electroplating. This makes the metal coating on the plastic parts more durable and uniform.
MCA can be used as a concrete additive to increase the strength of concrete, improve its performance and extend its life.
MCA can be used as a covering agent in sunscreen and shaving cream. It is non-irritating to the skin, has good adhesion, and makes the product smoother.
Handling and Storage
Handling
• Avoid dust formation
• Follow the usual precautions for handling chemicals
Storage
• Follow the general rules of industrial fire protection
• Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charges - earthing necessary during loading operations
• Keep away from sources of ignition, because dust can form an explosive mixture with air
• Keep containers tightly closed, cool and dry
